Here is a listing of some of the DVD's you should have in your collection.

So Close -

Starring: Qi Shu, Vicki Zhao, Karen Mok & Seung-heon Song

Some have called it the 'Asian version of Charlie's Angels' or 'Chinese Angels' for short.  Well, it does have a few hot girls kicking ass left and right, so in that respect it is the same.  This movie is, however, way better.  Better written, better acted.  The fighting scenes are at least somewhat believable, a most excellent soundtrack, and a plot ... yes a real live plot.  A bit out of the ordinary, and the English dub-over is not exact (when is it ever), but well worth it none the less.  This one is a keeper.  A great alternative to the stupid and poorly acted 'Charlie's Angels' (I bought the Charlie's Angels DVD, watched it once, then gave it away ... I'm a collector, so that's saying something).  Anyway I was able to find a web site for this...but, don't expect to much from it.

Dead Like Me - Season 1

Starring: Ellen Muth, Mandy Patinkin, Callum Blue

Showtime will be releasing the first season of their way cool show, "Dead Like Me" on DVD.  The expected release date is June 15, 2004.  This show is the ONLY reason I am spending money on the Showtime channels, so it's good.  Way better than the usual gay and weirdo propaganda shown on the "We love gays so you should too Network."  I am so glad that Stargate-SG1 went to the SciFi Channel!  Season 2, of the only thing worth watching on Showtime, will start playing in July.  Gladly, they will not be putting in the sexual relationship between George (someone who looks every bit of 15 - she is actually 23) and her boss, a very old fart.  You can click on the linkage above to order your own copy from Amazon.  However, the retail price for this set is rather high, considering it contains only 14 episodes!  Rebecca Gayheart, as Betty Rhomer, will be missed.  "Death is a temp job, life is the vacation!"

UPDATE:  Showtime has cancelled this show, after season two.  I have cancelled Showtime!

Babylon 5-The Entire Series  - - - Babylon 5-The Movie Collection

One of the best sci-fi shows ever to be made for television.  Now the entire series can be bought in a single set (for $360 - ouch).  Anyway, click the pix above and grab a copy.  I own a copy.  Good sci-fi, good story, and they did a pretty good job of making these...there were no dead sound spots, skips and the like.  Although this series has been over for several years, the CGI is still worthy to note, and the acting was way above normal for television based sci-fi.  Again, the price is high for the full set...but, you can order the individual seasons.  Altogether this set contains a whooping 30 DVD's and the lot of 110 episodes, so it is a pretty good deal.  The only thing missing is the special 2-hour episode of "Third Space", I wonder when they will be releasing this?

The newly released "Babylon 5 - The Movie Collection" is a collection of the five, made-for-TV movies based on the B5 story.  One of those being the pilot.  Here's the list:

The Gathering (i.e. the shows pilot)

In the Beginning (a prequel to the series, a tail of the Earth-Minbari War)

River of Souls (the Soul Hunters are back, with season five characters)

Thirdspace (a lost Vorlon artifact is found and brings forth a deadly enemy)

A Call to Arms (a show that connects the B-5 series to the failed spin-off Excalibur)

The pilot show itself is really bad, I was always surprised that season one even started after such a joke.  In the Beginning is perhaps the best show of the bunch, however I have this one as it was released previously on the back-side of the pilot DVD.  A Call to Arms is also a worthy sci-fi show, with the emergence of new bad guys, new technology and the base-line for the spin-off.  It is well written and expertly acted.  The Legend of the Rangers movie is NOT included in this set ... which may be a good thing.

Stargate SG-1 (the first SEVEN seasons - and still counting)

NOTE: Season 7 has been added to the list!

Series continues to be played on the SciFi Channel, season eight will begin on July 9th.  Even after seven seasons, they are still throwing out good shows.  I can only assume, because of the soon to start spin-off series of "Stargate: Atlantis", that the writers have many new story lines to draw from.  I hope that season eight isn't the last season for SG-1, BECAUSE, of the spin-off.  Seasons five and six were a bit soap-opera'ish, however season seven was will written and acted.  Hopefully they have learned that stupidity just won't be accepted in a sci-fi format.  Please click on the individual images above to view more and to order you own.  I'll update this listing when the newer seasons are released.
