Places that I
have done business with in the past that have basically screwed me
over. Yes, I've got proof, should any of these companies feel the
need to sue me over this - PLEASE FEEL FREE. My lawyers tell me
they could use the money! The stars (*) behind those names
represent just how badly they suck, the higher, the more.
Ubid.com (***) - They knowingly sell faulty equipment,
then do not honor their own return policy.
Fry's Electronics (**) - They enjoy repackaging and
reselling anything previously returned as faulty by a customer.
Hint - if the product has a label on it that says it was
previously opened, DON'T BUY IT, no matter how much they took off
the price! Many friends have also complained about this company
and all the faulty stuff they have bought there. At the moment,
it stands at near 50% of what you buy, you will have to return.
This company doesn't sell much on-line, thankfully, and only has a
few stores, mostly in California and Texas, so it may not bother
the lot of you.
Capital One Credit (*****) - No Hassles? Right! Don't
believe them, don't trust them and definitely DON'T DO BUSINESS
WITH THEM!! They entice you to join with those laughable
commercials and hefty promises. But be warned, the same people in
charge of Capital One today use to run Providian, remember them?!

They repeatedly
withheld the processing of credit card payments in order to
collect late fees. Even payments mailed 18 to 22 days in
advance would magically not arrive until one or two days after
they were due! Several postal return-receipts showed it would
never take more then four days for the payment to show up to
their address? |
 |
They would not send
out statements until two weeks prior to the payment due dates,
making it impossible to get payments back to them on time.
Late fees again. |
 |
They would wait to
process 'on-line' payments until after the due date (even though
'on-line' payments are set up to process on a given date). More
late fees. |

If you should ever
close an account. BEWARE. They will say the account has been
closed, then continue to accept charges against it! Like
automatic billing, monthly or annual fees, or e-bills that were
previously set up for the card. Then fail to send you any
statements. You won't notice the problem until you look at your
credit report and wonder why, on an account that has been closed
for over a year, is several months and several hundred dollars
(mostly late fees) overdue!! |
 |
They sell your
information to telemarketers!! (IN MY BOOK, THIS IS A DEADLY
SIN) |
I thought it was just
happening to me, but this same crap has happened to many of my
friends and co-workers. It took my girl friend nearly 14 months
to get her Capital One Platinum card account closed properly. We
finally had to go through a lawyer and all but sue the
assholes...just to close the account.
AOL
Internet Access (****) - Not only does their software
suck (insecure, spy-ware, bot-ware, & resource hog). Those few
people I've seen use it have been plagued with double-billing,
impossible late fees and the ever present 'Your account has been
compromised, however, we don't believe that any of your personal
information has been lost or stolen.' messages. If you plan on
closing your AOL account, it is best to pay off and close the
credit card (or close the checking account) that it is billed
against FIRST. The customer service department seems to have been
moved to India. They will gladly agree with you all day long,
promise to make amends and refunds. But, when your credit card
statement arrives, no refunds, continued faulty billing and
another two hour phone call with someone that can barely speak
English!!
