The Atari ST

Some of you may remember the Atari ST computer line, many may not.  The following are some downloadable files you can use to create a working 'replica' of the ST computer using only your standard PC (preferably a Pentium III @ 366Mhz or better).  There are also several hundred games and applications available via disk images so that you can actually do something with the emulator.

I.  The STeem Engine, is an Atari ST emulator for Windows based PC's.  I've tested it with the following versions of Windows:  98SE, ME, XP, and 2000 Professional.  The version I'm using is 3.2, which is available using the links below.  There are several ST emulators available and I have tried most of them, really STeem is all you need ... it actually works much better than my original ST computer does!  The STeem Engine uses fairly standard ST floppy disk image files for third party software loading and supports several different TOS versions.  Memory is selectable from 512KB to 14MBs, though setting it to 4MBs is often the best choice.  Check out the beginners page on how to set things up.

Download STeem 3.2 for Windows    and the   STeem Web Site

II.  GEM/TOS ROM's.  You only need to download one of the following, and truthfully there really isn't much difference between the two.  Some folks have reported better game compatibility with the UK TOS versions, but I've not noticed any problems with the US TOS.  The following is the basic set you would require for running most of the available applications and games:

Download the USA versions of TOS 1.02 and 2.06

Download the United Kingdom versions of TOS 1.02 and 2.06

In case you want to play around, here is ALL of the ROM's ever available for the ST, but you don't really need any of these:

Pangaelin Willow ROM's (some software is available from this site as well)

III.  Software.  Now for the fun stuff, the software!  This is by far the best site I've seen for grabbing ST disk images.  There are several thousand programs available from here (NOTE:  Some links may be broken, if I notice it has been broke for some time, I will remove it.)
